The distribution of I-CAB includes the annotation of temporal expressions and different types of entities (i.e. persons, organizations, locations, and geo-political entities), which was used for several tasks at EVALITA 2007 and EVALITA 2009.
In order to obtain I-CAB you have to fill the form below with your data (they will be maintained in a database at FBK) and to accept the agreement terms below (you will be contacted in a few days).
The licence allows you to use I-CAB only for research purposes. Research licences with unlimited duration are granted to academic, non-profit institutions. Private companies, on the other hand, can obtain a research licence only if they are involved in a research project (such license allows for the use of I-CAB only within the framework of the project and for the duration of the project).
It is important for us to have feedback on research involving I-CAB:

LICENCE AGREEMENT FONDAZIONE BRUNO KESSLER (FBK) I-CAB (Corpus)
Fondazione Bruno Kessler ("FBK") hereby grants to you a non-exclusive, non-transferable perpetual, royalty-free and worldwide license (the "License") to use I-CAB (the "Corpus"), a corpus consisting of articles from the Italian newspaper L'Adige (represented by Editrice-Stampatrice S.I.E. S.p.A. - Societa' Iniziative Editoriali) annotated manually with semantic information at different levels, solely for educational and research purposes, in accordance with Paragraph 2 below and subject to the terms and conditions of this License Agreement (the "Agreement"). The original texts were given by Editrice-Stampatrice S.I.E. S.p.A. - Societa' Iniziative Editoriali to FBK, to redistribute it only for research purposes related to the evaluation in the field of language technologies.
The License is limited to non-commercial use. Non-commercial use relates only to educational and research purposes. Any other use is commercial use. You may not use the Corpus in connection with any business activities. You may distribute and/or allow others to use a) the Corpus or b) the applications you create with the Corpus only if each new user is bound by the provisions of this Agreement.
You may copy FBK material only as reasonably necessary for your licensed use.
The Corpus and the accompanying documentation are licensed, not sold, to you. All title and intellectual property rights of the original texts are owned by Editrice-Stampatrice S.I.E. S.p.A. - Società Iniziative Editoriali, while the semantic annotations are owned by FBK.
You agree to acknowledge with appropriate citations both Editrice-Stampatrice S.I.E. S.p.A. (as far as the origin of the data is concerned) and FBK (as far as the semantic annotation is concerned) in any publication or presentation containing research results obtained in whole or in part through the use of the Corpus. The License is effective upon receipt by you of the Corpus and shall continue until terminated. The License will terminate immediately without notice by FBK if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Upon termination of this License, you shall immediately discontinue all use of the Corpus provided hereunder, and return to FBK or destroy the original and all copies of all such Corpus. All of your obligations under this Agreement shall survive the termination of the License.
FBK makes no representations about the suitability, use, or performance of this Corpus or about any content or information made accessible by the Corpus, for any purpose. The Corpus is provided "as is," without express or implied warranties including, but not limited to, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement with respect to the Corpus. FBK is not obliged to support or issue updates to the Corpus.
This Corpus is provided free of charge and, accordingly, FBK shall not be liable under any theory for any damages suffered by you or any user of the Corpus. Under no circumstances shall FBK be liable to you or any other person for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequencial damages of any character including, without limitation, damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other economic loss or commercial damages arising out of the use or inability to use this Corpus, even if FBK shall have been informed of the possibility of such damages, or for any third-party claims.
You agree to hold harmless, indemnify, and defend FBK, its Trustees, officers, employees, and agents from and against any loss, damage, liability, claim of loss, lawsuit, cause of action, or other claim asserted against them or any of them arising out of, or in any way connected with, your performance of any activity hereunder.
You agree that the Corpus will not be shipped, transferred, or exported into any country or used in any manner prohibited by the Italian export laws, restrictions, or regulations.
Any controversy or claim of whatsoever nature arising out of or relating in any manner whatsoever to this Agreement or any breach of any terms of this Agreement shall be governed by and construed in all respects in accordance with the laws of Italy. You hereby irrevocably acknowledge and agree that the Court of Trento shall have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any controversy or claim of whatsoever nature arising out of, or relating in any manner to this Agreement, any terms of this Agreement, or any breach of this Agreement or any such terms.
This Agreement contains the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof, and it shall not be modified or amended except by an instrument in writing signed by both parties hereto.
